The Emerald Coast & Beyond
Sardinia and Corsica together form one of the Mediterranean's great yachting circuits. Separated by just seven nautical miles of the Strait of Bonifacio, these two islands offer a remarkable contrast — Italian glamour and French sophistication, separated by some of the most beautiful water in the world.
The Costa Smeralda remains the undisputed capital of superyacht culture. Porto Cervo's marina hosts the world's largest and most valuable private yachts, and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is the spiritual home of grand prix sailing. But Sardinia's appeal extends far beyond the Emerald Coast — the La Maddalena Archipelago offers water clarity that rivals the Maldives, and the island's interior is a rugged wilderness of granite mountains and ancient Nuragic towers.
Corsica — Napoleon's birthplace — is France's wildest island. The dramatic Calanques de Piana, the medieval citadel of Bonifacio, and the pristine Lavezzi Islands offer a charter experience that combines natural drama with French culinary excellence.

Sardinia & Corsica Destinations

Costa Smeralda, Sardinia
The Emerald Coast is the Mediterranean's most exclusive yachting destination. Created in the 1960s by the Aga Khan, Porto Cervo and its marina remain the epicentre of superyacht culture. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda hosts the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Perini Navi Cup, drawing the world's finest sailing yachts each September. The coastline between Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo is a succession of pink granite coves with water so clear it appears to have been filtered. Cala di Volpe, with its legendary hotel, and Liscia Ruja beach are among the most photographed spots in the Mediterranean.
Best: June – September
La Maddalena Archipelago
The La Maddalena Archipelago National Park is a cluster of seven main islands and dozens of smaller islets between Sardinia and Corsica. The water here is the most extraordinary in the Mediterranean — shades of turquoise, emerald, and sapphire that rival the Caribbean. Budelli's famous Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) is now protected and can only be viewed from the water, making it a yacht-exclusive experience. Spargi, Caprera (Garibaldi's island), and Santa Maria offer pristine anchorages in crystal-clear water. The Strait of Bonifacio between the archipelago and Corsica is one of the world's great sailing passages.
Best: May – October
Bonifacio & Southern Corsica
Bonifacio is one of the most dramatic harbour entrances in the world — a narrow fjord-like inlet beneath towering white limestone cliffs, with the medieval citadel perched impossibly above. The harbour is a favourite superyacht destination, and the restaurants along the quay serve some of the finest seafood in France. South of Bonifacio, the Lavezzi Islands are a marine nature reserve with granite formations, crystal-clear water, and exceptional snorkelling. The west coast's Calanques de Piana — a UNESCO World Heritage site of red granite formations — is best appreciated from the water.
Best: June – September
Southwest Sardinia & Cagliari
The southwest coast of Sardinia is the island's wild frontier — less developed than the Costa Smeralda but equally beautiful. The island of San Pietro, with its Ligurian-influenced town of Carloforte, is a hidden gem where tuna fishing traditions date back centuries. Cagliari, the island's capital, is an underrated city with a stunning old quarter (Castello), excellent restaurants, and the flamingo-filled Molentargius wetlands. The coast between Chia and Villasimius offers some of Sardinia's most beautiful beaches, with dunes, turquoise lagoons, and ancient Nuragic towers.
Best: May – October
