Crew Recruitment & Training
The crew makes the charter. Our recruitment division sources, vets, and places the finest maritime professionals — from world-class captains to Michelin-trained chefs — ensuring every voyage is exceptional.
The People Behind the Experience
A superyacht is only as good as its crew. The most beautifully designed, impeccably maintained vessel in the world will deliver a mediocre experience if the crew lacks skill, warmth, or attention to detail. Conversely, an exceptional crew can elevate even a modest yacht into an unforgettable holiday. This is why crew selection is the single most important factor in charter satisfaction.
At Global Super Yacht Charters by Bluebnc Yachting, we take crew quality seriously. Our recruitment division maintains a network of over 5,000 vetted maritime professionals, from seasoned captains with decades of ocean crossings to young stewardesses trained at the world's best hospitality schools. Every crew member is selected not just for their technical qualifications, but for their personality, discretion, and genuine passion for service.
Key Crew Positions
A typical superyacht crew ranges from 4 to 30+ members depending on the vessel's size. Here are the key roles that define the charter experience.
Captain
The captain is the master of the vessel, responsible for navigation, safety, and the overall charter experience. Our captains hold Master Unlimited or equivalent certificates, with extensive local knowledge of the world's premier cruising grounds.
First Officer / Mate
The first officer supports the captain in navigation and vessel operations, manages deck crew, and oversees safety equipment and procedures. They are often the primary point of contact for water sports and tender operations.
Chief Engineer
Responsible for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on board. A skilled engineer ensures the yacht operates flawlessly — from propulsion and generators to air conditioning and watermakers.
Chef
The onboard chef creates bespoke menus tailored to your preferences, dietary requirements, and the local produce available at each destination. Many of our chefs have trained at Michelin-starred restaurants and specialise in multiple cuisines.
Chief Stewardess
The chief stewardess manages the interior team, oversees housekeeping, table service, and guest comfort. She ensures every detail — from flower arrangements to pillow menus — meets the highest standards.
Stewardesses & Deckhands
The supporting crew handle everything from cabin turndowns and cocktail service to water sports setup and tender driving. They are the backbone of the charter experience, trained to anticipate needs before they arise.
